Ticking sound

I am having the dreadful ticking sound from the top end of the engine and also the oil light comes on for about 5 mins and then shuts off. I been using 15w-30 oil in it and also been using reg gas do to prices. Well this have some to do with this? and should i change the oil and replace the 15w-30 to 20w/50??

Maybe fresh oil and a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer? I don't think changing to 20w/50 will help in the long run.

well it was a quart low on oil put some in and went up to the mountains and then came home and the ticking sound was gone this is very puzzling
