Tire Help for my Disco II

I've got a 2000 Disco II currently shod with 255/65/16's. About a year ago a put a 3" OME lift on it, and now I would like to get larger tires to give me a bit more ground clearance, however, I really don't want to start cutting up the wheel wells. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience fitting bigger tires on a Disco II with a 3" lift and wondering how big can I go without rubbing. Please don't guess, I would rather hear what someone has actually done, and what their actual experience was. Thanks.

265-75-16 are very much ok.

255-86-16 will work with very slight rubbing and some light trimming of the front bumper. Maybe very light rubbing of the rear fender edges but its not bad at all.

285-75-16 will rub on fenders and trim and need a lot more clearance.

Both 255-85 a d 285-75 will hit the radius arms but is not horrible. And he 255's the steering stops can be adjusted a bit so they don't run with no real huge noticeable decrease in turning radius.

235-85-16 are fine and easily clear. 245-75-16 and fine too.

On my 2003, the 255/85R16 didn't rub anything, but I had an ARB bumper. It never had a very tight turning radius though, so maybe that's why it didn't rub the arms.

I've run 255 and 285 tires and never had them come near the fenders. On a 3" lift he will be fine with either size. May have to cut some of the rocker cover/slider. If he still has the stock front bumper it's already broken, may as well trim it or replace it.
If he's still worried, go with the 255's.
265/75 tires are for weenies.
Seriously, don't be a weenie.

265 75 is what I had before my 255 85, they are as canus says, weenie tires. Look at those baby tires.

3" OME with 265/75-16.. I would eventually go with 255/85, but only after completely upgrading my drivetrain.

Weenie.
I ran 285s and 255s for several years without drivetrain upgrades.
When it is time to upgrade, do the differentials first.

Maybe I am a weenie, but at least I dont have to worry about destroying my CV's like Ive seen so many people do with stock drive train and 285's

I would not "worry" about it anyway. I only know of a few people that have broken an axle or cv on 255's or 285's and one of them was fully locked at the time. I personally never had anything break and I wheeled my 04 a lot with the 255's.

Ditto.
