sorry for the idiotic first post guys n gals:eek:
just got a 98 range rover, 4.6 hse with the (recntly rebuilt) air suspension still on it.
question is, the tires are getting ready to be replaced, and thats one thing i wont compromise on....i wanted to put an all terrain tire on there, but didnt know what size i could get on there without upsetting all the electronic gizmo's and didnt want it to rub neither...
any ideas?
many thanks

yeah i saw that on rr net...just wanted to see if anyone had real world experience for me to steal....:smilelol:
will probably just get the stock size, so if the air system goes bad, can still drive it on the bumpstops! been searching for the 255/55/18 and there seems to be a decent selection...maybe some nitto grapplers in my near future!;)

cheers mate!

I've got 265/60/18 on my D2 w/ a 2" lift for the hwy...They look puny compaired to my 255/85/16 mud terrains for the fun stuff. Maybe you should consider getting a set of 16" wheels to run "non stock" sizes for play.

Yeah - P38's look a world better on 16" rims with more rubber...(and a lift of course!). If you don't plan on off-roading, don't monkey too much - you'll have a very smooth ride that you'll want to keep...

thanks guys!
i did consider making the rangey into a wheeler, but looking at it, its too damn nice!
i have a jeep yj, with beefier axles, chevy drivetrain, arb's, etc etc etc to beat on, so i got the rr for a nice d/driver and tow vehicle for the yj.
i'd love to make it into a wheeler, but with the full rr service history ( the PO even paid the rr dealer to install a radar detector!), i think i'll keep the heep for the wheeling, and the rr for a nice "grocery getter":smilelol:
eventually, i will probably go old man emu ( thats what i have on the yj and the '02 grand) and start cutting, but for now, i think near stock will keep the nice ride and do what i need it to do!

cheers

Where have you found the Nitto's in the stock size? I can only find them in the 285/60/18's. I'm in the market as well for AT's for 18" rims. Cannot find a decent set of 16's for a good price nor does anyone want to trade so i'm going to see whati can get for the hurricanes.

I got a set of nitto terra-grapplers in 255/55-18 last year at discount tire.
check the price online, then call your local store; if they don't have them, they'll get them.

i also found them online...
considering those and the toyo open country at's....both in stock sizes.
found the nitto's for $151 a tire, the local 4wd shop i frequent (i do have a heep aswell!) quoted me $145 a tire today when the g/f took the rr for its inspection.
funny thing was, i guess the hood switch was partially stuck, and i got a fone call asking..."what the hell is a bonnet?"
looks like i'll have to teach her england english all over again!;)

I have 255/70's on my P38 and that's about as big as you want to go with the air suspension. My rims are 16's. Don't know if you can get that size in the 18's. They are Cooper Discoverer STT's, and they have been very good on and off-road. I just use the P38 for light trail use, and greenlaning. My classic is my modified trail truck.

You can do 245/75 on a 16" wheel with EAS just fine. You may have some rubbing in access mode, but who drives around in access mode anyway?

If you convert to coils and lift it a few inches, your tire selection opens up immensely.

think i'll be sticking with stock sizes for now....
i know where the jeep led me, and it was way too far down a rocky road of modifications....:( wanted to run "just 33's" and within 18 months, its on its 2nd frame, soa, on 37's and a chevy drivetrain....:banghead:
all because i wanted to "lightly modify" it...:smilelol:
the only wheeling the rr will do will be getting me and the yj to the trail on an aluminum trailer. just be kinda embarrasing to goto flat nasty and get stuck in the parking lot.......:(

little off topic.....but ye think the rr would be fine towing the yj on a dual axle alum trailer with brakes?
will be around 1000lbs under the rated (6500lbs?) towing capacity...
asked a few guys on pirate, but keep getting different answers!
would be for @100 miles. any more and i'd take my lowboy trailer and the big rig...free camping that way!:D

cheers again!
