LOL... I almost even hate to ask this question on Dweb...:D I know all about tire sizes that fit discos and rangies but nothing about series 2a. Can I run 235/85/s on a series 2a with parabolics with no rubbing? Do I need to make any steering adjustments? Will the axle shafts handle that tire size?

I am going to keep some MT's on a set of DI spare rims. I know those rims fit on the series vehicles with no problems. I'm just curious as to what tire size I could run.

Thanks

Yes, they fit. We just removed a set of 235/85-16 KO's and installed 265/75-16 Trxus with no issues and no rubbing. The closest point is the rear edge of the AB galvy slider.

Why did you switch tire size? Do the 265/75's give you better offroad performance than the 235/85's?

Because I bought 34" LTB's for my Disco and had a brand new set of Trxus from last season. Plus, the KO's just plain suck anywhere except the mall.

Depending on if it is an 88 or a 109- you may need to adjust your steering stops. Otherwise just quit cranking when you hear the rumble of rubber in the chassis...

Frick- how do you like the Trxus? I can really see where they'd be better than BFG No Terrains. However I'm not really convinced I want to try them though because I've seen them really suck on a D-90...

Matt,

I had about 150 miles on truxus - basically the trip to the trail - and put a hole in the sidewall first trip offroad. MTR's I had with tons of offroad, including several times on the trail I blew that truxus and never had an issue. I think the price diff was 50/tire, and no doubt I'd pay that extra 50 if you plan on doing anything in rocks. FWIW.

Hijack off/ - those tires will fit no prob.

Sorry for hijacking a hijack.......OK, so shit happens......ANY tire can rip a sidewall....you just need to be unlucky once!.......maybe you need to go for the steel sidewall Michelin XZL 's they sell at www.expeditionexchange.com .....could improve your chances!?!?

My dad has the buckshot mudders on his RRC. We went to the MAR clean up for its first time out. He found the only piece of slate to put a hole through the tread. He has pluged it and runs it on the road right now. We are thinking of getting a new one and make this the spare.

As far as the series tires go our IIa has 34" TSLs on it without issue. Altho you might want to change the bump stops to keep it from rubbing the upper fenders when you flex out.

Come to think of it, that same I've seen 1 or 2 of the Trxus ripped last year too, I had forgotten about that... Wet shale can be murder on any tire though.

Maybe I'll stick to the Bias plys on the 88 though.

I just run regular standard ole 7.50 X 16" in Goodyear Wrangler AT on my ex-Military 2a 109", but I really only drive it around my own property [ 400 acre Adventure playground....haha ] these days

Believe it or not, I am running 33 x 12.5s on my '61 Series II with parabolics. I haven't done serious offroading with it, but the don't rub (they do stick out though!) and required no adjustments. I took it on the test track at Land Rover North Scottsdale - did the full loop with no rubbing at all.

While on the series tire subject I will take another opportunity ti say how impressed I am with the performance of the Cooper Discoverer ST in 235/85-16. For one they just look right on a series. I can go 65 on the highway nice and smooth and their performance offroad has been amazing.
