Viewing William Distel's photo gallery and noticed he has fitted yellow 'D' shackle mounts to the chassis behind the replacement TJM crush cans. They run forward through his TJM bumper.

Anyone know where he got them from. Can't find an e-mail for him.

Cheers

Dunno' if it helps, but Tractor Supply has some weld-on d-rings pretty cheap. I had a pair welded onto 3/8" steel, and have matching backing plates. 4 Bolts later, and it's a solid place to pull on the ARB, which isn't real solid to begin with. Pic stinks, but it's raining.

Yank on a TJM and it'll move on you- unless you weld up the crush cans.

Wasn't meant to be bolted to the bumper, but it could be made to attach to the frame. Frame is about the same thickness as the ARB bumper.

The winch frame on a TJM has no frontal area to mount to... unless you meant the truck frame... Not following where you're suggesting to mount it.

I'm not suggesting you mount it anywhere. I was suggesting that it is an inexpensive weld-on recovery point, and you can mount it anywhere you God-damn please. My ARB is too thin to support a welded-on recovery point. A bumper mounted to crush-cans is asking for trouble as well. I'd suggest mounting it to something that won't move. Like the frame. That, however, is pretty thin as well, and will probably tear when really loaded. I'd come up with a way to weld them to something solid, then bolt that to the frame. Or, weld it to a plate, then weld the plate to the frame. When it comes to recovery, you really can't over-engineer.

Ah- gotcha. I am thinking I'll go to a TJM aluminium bull bar to save weight and I think the recovery point on William Distel's is a great idea- but not sure it will handle a side load too well.
