I saw a D1 with one and it looked very cool. I'm thinking about getting one any thoughts or opinions about them.

I had one for a year on my rig, swapped it out for an RTE recently.. here's my opinions:

Pros:
1. Design -- Looks real sharp, like its supposed to be there
2. Hi-lift points -- Those T's are real nice and easy to lift from
3. Lights mount nicely
4. Better approach angle than stock
5. crushcans will absorb the energy from an accident better, and keep you 'airbag compatible'

Cons:
1. Winch tray position makes it difficult to reach winch, you get it filled with mud/water/sand/silt/younameit
2. recovery points are retarded, you need the winch tray, and you need to mount the hooks onto it, difficult to get to in a lot of situations, and although they've worked fine, they seem a little sketchy
3. it shifts around if hit, i've hit rocks and mounds of dirt with it at slow speeds and the whole bumper shifted.
4. clearance isn't as great as alternatives

Back in the good old days I had one. Make sure you install the winch tray when you put it on, even if you don't plan on getting a winch, as its the only way you can have trustworthy recovery points mounted.

I think he said DI.... the DI doesn't use the winch tray that the DII uses. Different bumper, different the way the winch mounts etc.

RTE all the all way. Great looking bumper, super strong, best approach angles and good winch mounts. Anything else is a waste of $ and in 1 year you'll be putting the other junk up for sale.

Sometimes its beyond looks.. I do prefer the look of the TJM to the RTE.. but for the reasons I mentioned above, the TJM just was not good for what I was using it for..

I have a T15 on my D1 and it works great. It does stick out a little further than is ideal but nowhere near as far as the ARB. It isn't airbag compliant, but I wear my seatbelt so who cares? The Hi-lift points are only on the D2 version so you will want rocksliders or a custon solution for that. The winch is very easy to get to/use but you will want tomove the remote hook-up. It comes with recovery points, but they are pretty silly, they look like they'll bend if you pulled sideways too hard, they also stick down quite a bit. I have since installed a pair of Dixon Bate tow jaws. As such I will be cutting them off soon and my aproach angle will be a lot better. The build quality is pretty good, not RTE standard but for how cheap the thing is you can't go wrong. As for strenght a lady hit me head on in a BMW while she was running a red light at about 20mph, her car was pretty fvcked up (a tow jaw went through her radiator) I just had to get the bumper re-powdercoated.

Here's a few pictures.

i always thought they looked big and ugly in pictures but i bought a D1 with one installed and i love it. It's very stock looking and really beefy. Approach angle isn't a problem and i've put a fair amount of pull on the recovery points with no problems. Worth it, value wise you can't go wrong.

X2 replaced with RTE and all.
