Well I think I might have a problem and would love a few opinions on the issue. When I start my beautiful 98 D1 I hear that dreaded sound in the heater core. You should no what I talking about because it has been a hot topic. The strange thing is after about 20 minutes of driving the heat works and I am happy. Anther part of this mystery is my temp gauge takes forever to heat up. The last clue is I have some small drips of coolant on my garage floor.

So my questions:
Am I in jeopardy of blowing up my engine because of heat spots caused by my cooling problem?

Where is the best place to start when you have a cooling problem?

Thanks

Supersquid,

Is the heater core leaking or just making sounds under the dash? Is your coolant level topped up?
I wonder if a low coolant level isnt making the slosh in your heater core...

Trace where the leak is coming from that you find on the floor...

Good luck,

Hunter

If it takes long to heat up then you may have a stuck open thermostat!

Like he said ^^^ the LONG warm-up could be the thermostat. I had that about 3 years ago. It's inexpensive and EASY to replace. Buy the proper one, even from the dealer... really!

As for the gurgling, maybe you need to top up MORE in the coolant tank.

For your leaks, can you relate the floor drips to a particular region of the motor? Give us some coordinates (front, back, left, below water pump, drips on catalyst, etc) and I am sure we will get you some answers.
