Had a leaking head/valley gasket, pulled the heads and now that we are that far decided to do some more work to keep from having to tear it down again.

130k on the odometer,(i've had it for about 6k) but looking at the cylinders, you can see the cross hatch marks from being honed at some point recently (?). So i think maybe it was rebuilt already.

The bottom end bearings and crank all look good.

The valves look good on the bottom side, the tops are a bit crusty.

Planning right now on cam, lifters, timing chain/gear. Get the heads machined. Replacing power steering hoses which i think were responsible for most of the mess. Oil cooler lines also.

Anything else you would do while you were in there? let me hear it? Thanks guys (and gals).

Honing can still be seen on my '95 w/ 125k on it...doing a top end on mine again due to t-stat/weak radiator combo!!! Needless to say not getting as deep as you are but planning on pulling the engine in a year for a complete overhaul ore possibly diesel conversion....cost for machining heads was 220....woulda been 260 but I still had the valve seals from first time around.

Replace the water pump because your there ,along with the hoses ,thermostat and hoses and the crank shaft positiong sensor , it will fail soon and leave you stranded also since you going to order parts and its not my bill I would think about the fuel pump if it hasn't been replaced, they seem to fail aroung 100 - 140 k fuel filter also then all the little things that will be leaving you stranded will be done???

I'm debating on the water pump. The water/cooling parts of this motor are super clean, like i was not even expecting it to be.
