I have some serious doubts about this American version of Top Gear, but I don't watch television anyway, so I'll just stick to watching Top Gear UK on my computer.

I fully expect this to fail, miserably. The UK version is classic with great hosts, amazing photography and production values. When NBC tried to adapt "Coupling" a few years back, they were so cheap that they copied the sets and script verbatim with US actors that fell flat - couldn't watch more than the 1st 5 minutes it was so bad. I think it was cancelled after the 1st show. Only "The Office" has done well. Good thing BBC America and the internet has all the other stuff.

Amen. Adam Corolla isn't exactly the name I conjure up when I think "Top Gear" material. Jay Leno said it best...

"In my mind I can just see Jeremy lambasting Americans for what they did to his show. So I think: I?ve got to run away from this as quickly as I can. So I tell him that, as much as I like the show, I try not to make my hobby my job.

I like the show just the way it is. Jeremy and the guys are extremely talented, so maybe it would be an idea to do an American show similar to Top Gear but not with the same name, because I think it would be impossible to recreate or live up to the standards of the British show. "

Why can't they just give us the UK version. Thats the one we like, why remake it. I don't care if they're testing a Fiat or an MG that i'll never drive..I like to see them drive the piss out of cars I wish I had, tell us between the M3 and the Audi S4 which is cooler to drive, and take beat up car and do stuid sh%t to them....If it aint broke don't fix it..Just put the UK version on a normal channel and let us watch it....

The show will last a season tops, if they just try and remake the British version it's going to seem like a cheap remake, and if they change it up it won't be TG, kind of a catch 22.
