Jeremy has the luck of the irish, if I treated my RRC the way he abused the one in the Bolivia piece, it would have blown a head gasket or worse. I cannot figure out how he could overheat that 3.5 as badly as he did that many times and not have it crap out on him. I loved the episode though.

They had two camel trophy mechanics keeping it going the entire way through.

The FJ40 also had many more problems then they showed. Two guys on ih8mud were contracted to go with them to provide assistance and to build the FJ. On the thread they said they replaced several master and slave cyl and various parts. Put quite alot of work into that FJ in a few days time.

I hate to say that I'm watching it right now. What a bunch of douche bags!!! This show sucks compared to the BBC version. Just one more reason why American TV shows suck!!!!

It's on now.

The Clarkson wannabe doesn't have a fucking personality, and the others just aren't interesting. The fat guy is the most lively, and even he feels dead.

The way it's filmed isn't epic at all. One of the best parts of Top Gear is the movie-like feel of everything. It's like you can reach out and touch the cars. Everything feels epic, no matter how stupid it is.

This is filmed like a fucking soap opera. It also feels too fucking scripted and dead. The presenters may as well be writing a magazine article. They seriously screwed up with those jackasses. It's insulting.

Top Gear has a good thing. I don't understand why it can't be promoted like hell and broadcast here.

This feels like a bunch of college idiots trying to make an imitation. It's not all that entertaining, actually. It's not like they don't know the formula by now.

I can do better with a Handycam.

Cheers,

Kennith

Your Top Gear hosts:

Cheers,

Kennith

I expect most of you will know who these guys are. If not, we have Rick Astley, Joe Francis, and Michael Moore.

the new "american" Top Gear blows. just watched it and kennith you are right. these anouncers have no personalities. The jokes are terrible and sound very scripted. they really missed the boat on this one.

Yeah, those presenters have no personalities. But then again we have been spoiled by the three from England.

They are competing against Clarkson, Hammond and May. That is a tall order.

The Viper would've been cool if they could even get out of the airport! Maybe they'll loosen up in the next couple of episodes.

To add to what Kennith and others have already mentioned. The show does feel too scripted and honestly since it is nowhere close to being as good as the original U.K. version, I hope it does not last too long.
I also find it a little irritating that they are trying to exactly mirror the U.K. show, it is like making an orginial great movie and then trying to follow it by a shitty sequel, all in the name of ratings and potential revenue. If I have an option to watch BBC and the original show, why would I tune in to watch something that is a "rip-off" of the original? Maybe it is just my point of view, but having different (shitty) hosts attempting to do the same thing with same mannerisms (which feel strained at best) as the original Top Gear guys just feels awkward. The posture of the hosts, if that is the right word, feels rigid, unnatural and forced. Almost like they are trying to stick to a script as opposed to letting their personalities do the talking.

Exactly-it was the designer knock off of Top Gear and it did not work at all. Why they would try to mimic the original was a stupid decision. History Channel will get a lot of flack for showing them blast around that small town (and cemetary) as the PC police will be offended, problem is the History Channel will cave where as the BBC doesn't.

I fell asleep watching it-that never happens with the real Top Gear.

Fail.

Just watched an episode (the one where they play ice hockey with cars and race a bob sled, also the biathlon one) of the real Top Gear (U.K. version) and man oh man, how can that sorry of an excuse U.S. top gear attempt to imitate it? There is just no chance. The originality of the material is apparent, the hosts do not come off as they are acting, but instead very natural. Some of the stuff they say as well, like Stevie Wonder jokes, golden snow jokes, etc. would probably get shut down on U.S. TV, even if they make it that far, which is doubtful. History channel needs to stick to original programming, like Ax Men, Swamp Loggers, Pawn Stars, American Pickers, etc. and leave the imitations off the plate.
