No, but I plan to tow mine behind my coach to Moab this spring. LR dealer and manual say its fine as long as you follow the procedure :)

I've set up my D1 to serve as a dingy behind my Class A 32' Bounder

I'm using a Falcon All-Terain 8,000 LB tow hitch purchased from Camping World. I had the factory pin mounts on the receiving Bar duplicated and welded to my SG bumper. The adjustable arms of the Falcon tow hitch make it a snap for one person hook-up.

My D1 weighs in at a sweltry 5400 lbs due to all the body armor. No problem towing with Bounder (Work Horse Chassis, 8.1 chevy with Allison ******)

Here is a summary of my procedure, not recommended for everyone, only a sample

1) Hook up to tow vehicle following tow hitch and tow vehicle manufacturers instructions
2) With D1 only, do the following
3) Start engine
4) Parking brake off
3) Place transmission in neutral
4) Place Transfer Case in neutral. Select drive momentarily to ensure D1 is not in gear.
5) Place transmision back in neutral
6) Turn engine off, key will remain in switch at 1 position

I agree with everything GotRovr said except you should put the transmission in park instead of neutral. I tow mine behind my motorcoach and have never had any trouble except valves, Lucas electric, vacuum hoses, AC switches, ... :D

I have never towed a disco on a tow bar....but I have towed a cj thousands of miles.

one tip that makes a big difference is to max out the tire pressure in the towed truck. That way the tires scuff less around turns and the truck will bob and weave much less.

I too recall that you are supposed to put the auto trans in park, I cannot remember why but I recall somebody trashing their trans because of that. My RR manual states to put the tcase in neutral and auto trans in park for flat towing, its not a disco but basically the same.

If you are going to be towing it a long distance, you could remove the driveshafts at the diff ends and tie them up, it would put less stress on things.
