As if I didn't have enough repairs on the list, I got the old TR6 out yesterday and gave her a bath. Put the interior back in, and she is ready for the road again. I have had her since 89, and its still quite a POS....but its my POS!

Does anyone have any forum site suggestions for TR6's or Triumphs that are good?

I also have some POSs that are headed, hopefully, towards drivers :D

A good forum is

British Car Forum

and

6-pack

Triumphs and other marque's. My first LBC was a 72 TR6. It was the best car I ever drove in snow. A 4 season car through many midwest winters. Sold when family came along, no back seats.

Rolling resto?

LMAO....this one is no rolling resto. I redid it about 10yrs ago, and it was not that well finished as my bodywork is horrible. Its fine and fun to drive, but other than that its as pretty as the D1, complete with moon crater panels!

It also made it through quite a few midwest winters, in fact as I was putting the trans tunnel back in yesterday I was reminded of where I made "heat vents" during an Indiana February back in 90.

Thanks
Ed

Moss Motors is selling a supercharger kit for those now - just in case you can't scare yourself silly with a stock one....

The later Triumphs are nothing but a headache, especially the TR7. I had a 76 Spitfire, the throw out went bad, then the carbs had to be rebuilt, then rear brakes.

I traded it for an all original 69 SIIA 88. Haven't looked back.

Sounds like this forum and some LRs :D

My TR6 was actually reliable. Keep in mind these are 50's/60's technology cars so routine maintenance intervals were shorter. Maybe mine was reliable because I staying on top of maintenance. The TR7 was ahead of it's time. I found one for $750 and it is my daily driver. Actually pretty comfortable. That said, it is definitely not 90's technology but it is sure a lot easier to work on. I'd still like to find a good TR6. Fun car to drive and you can actually mod the hell out of it, unlike today's cars.

My current money pit is a 59 Healey 3000 BN7. Bought in jars, literally. In the process of complete reassembly, panel alignment, tear down, paint.

I have always been fond of TR3's especially wide mouths, MGB's, and there has always been a soft spot for Austin Healey's. Had a 100M, never should have sold that car. It was just a fun car, and fairly rare. I cant imagine what it is worth now. That is what a British Car is supposed to be.

Once British Leyland got ahold of Triumph, MG, etc., everything went downhill from there. Unfortuneately, emissions, and safety also ruined the British sports car.

Yeah, emissions in 68 and beliefs that convertibles would be outlawed by the mid 70's, hence the fixed head coupe TR7 in 1975. Imagine British roadsters that were not convertibles.

LMAO.....I agree, the TR6 and the D1 have kept me in therapy for years!!

However through 2 wives and numerous moves, jobs etc, there are always two constants!

1) D1 and TR6 outside
2) They both need constant lovin
