As you must know, I am shopping. I found a '96 on a local list that's a standar, has two sets of wheels/tires, an ABR bumper and winch, air lickers, some armor and no AC and a busted sunroof. 130k miles, $5k. The "value added" products attract me. The 5-speed attracts me (Sure honey, you can use the truck, oh wait, you can't drive a standard, aww) and the busted AC attracts me (better chance of getting my Acord too next summer).

My concerns are threefold.

It's the most expensive of the four that I am considering right now.

It's the worst DD of the ones that I am looking at. I DO need to use this all the time as it'll be my only vehicle. Also, being less-luxurious it might be a harder sale on the Mrs.

It's the only one that has been wheeled. Now, that might meen that the kinks are worked out of it OR it might meen that it's had a really rough life. FWIW, the owner sounds like he has taken good care of it but.....

I know tha I am obsessing about a lot of little stuff, but I bought a Jeep YJ before and didn't obsess enough and got jammed up. Also, I'm not sure if having all that cool off-road stuff is a GOOD ide or a BAD idea for a total NooB.........

At least on this truck I wouldn't be worrying about the rear step actuators!

its hard to pass on all the extras...just make sure they work and spend the extra time to find out why the owner is really selling....I always find out after i buy!!

Are the "air lickers" "ABR" too?:smilelol:

Sounds like a decent buy to me. Check the dip stick and see how the oil looks. Look underneath it real well since its been an offroader.
