trailer light on, no trailer..

I've searched and searched (and still am)

98 D1 148k

Trailer light is stuck on, whether the key is in the ignition or not. When the right turn signal is used the turn signal lights stay on (constant) and the dash turn signal symbol stays steady on.

Checked all the fuses, everyone is good. Even replaced a few, no luck. Trailer harness is as it was from the factory. Untouched sitting behind RT rear access panel.

Got the dash taken apart right now looking for anything out of the ordinary...


what does it even mean when the trailer light is a constant on? or does it never stay on constantly? I'm guessing it would mean trailer attached but would it stay on, or just when using turn signals.

Any help is appreciated.

If I hold it to just below it catches (right turn signal) it'll work normal, but as soon as I push it that 1/16" to latch it for a rt turn the lights go to constant on until I pull the fuse then they reset for the time (usually come on about 15 minutes later by themselves..)

checked. everything is good there.

plus, when the key is not even in the ignition the trailer light is on. this is what is getting me, only when I unplug the batt does the light go off, as soon as I plug it back in, comes back on.

My trailer light was going on intermittently in the winter when salty water splashed on the trailer plug. the corrosion built a bridge and started shorting out. it was wet even though it was tucked away.
