Trailer Socket Prevents Locking Bike Hitch Rack

So, I went to pick up my mountain bike and my hitch-mounted bike rack this weekend. I used it on my old County (1990) with no problems. Well, I go to mount it on my newer Disco (2003), and the addition of my new trailer wiring harness (the socket and the socket bracket in particular) has made it impossible to lock the rack into the hitch. The lock itself bumps into the socket, making it impossible to screw the pin in ...

The rack is the one picture here: http://discoweb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=35547&highlight=bike+rack+hitch

The wiring harness has you install the socket to the right of the hitch receiver.

Firstly, I don't know why they would only design a hitch-mounted bike rack with holes on only one side of the arm. (Well, maybe because the lock screws in and it wouldn't work on other side anyway?) Secondly, I don't know why LR would design the wiring harness socket/bracket to be so close to the hitch receiver - it was even a bit tough to get the trailer key in when we hauled the boat trailer.

In any case, I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions for me to make this work without having to remove the harness socket/bracket from the frame if want to take my bike somewhere. Is there some kind of alternate locking mechanism I can buy?

Call Reese hitches and get an extention. I did the same for my bike rack because of the tire. It was cheap...
