Hey all I figured out this weekend that while discos have ample cargo space it was not enough. The dog, the equipement and canoe took up more room than I had anticipated. We started to think about small single axle trailers. I have looked at some but six grand is way out of my league. We just need it for cargo, no roof top tent(I have that), no kitchen just extra room! Any ideas?

A lot of people use M416 US Army or M101 Canadian Army trailers. They are rated at a 1/4 ton and are built tough as nails.

M416/M101 is the way to go. I pulled mine full of camping gear in the Series truck this weekend and never felt it. Except on hills...but it is a Series. You can find them under $1000 but it may take some looking. I was lucky, mine came with the purchase of the Series.

They can go anywhere the LR can go and weigh about 500 lbs empty.

One of the nicest little trailers ive ever seen is the Thule Trailer.

It has a fiberglass removable sealable top thats extreamly strong.
we used them in the bush in Africa and ive never seen them in the states untill recently and dealers are hard t find in my area.

1500.00 for the 5x7 (i think)

This will be my next purchase if i dont find a Quigley Van.

This is my M101 from Canada modified a little, I added a lid, lights and my roof top tent.

The thing I like the most about it is 100% of my camping / outdoor gear fits inside of it so it is always ready to go, Just hook it up and take off.

Paid under $1000 for the trailer but have more than that into it after adding the lid, RTT and stuff ;)

If you look around you can find them.

I purchased 4 from military tires in canada and would not deal with them again, I got my trailers but it was touch and go for a while and I did not end up getting exactly what I had paid for (missing parts and such). If you were local it might be ok but a long distance business deal with them was a PITA.

Some good places to look for one

There is a guy in Boulder Colorado that had a bunch of them a while back but not sure if he still has them or not.

That place is fun to visit. I drop by there a few times a year just to wonder around.

He has had the URAL forever, it seems, pic is gone. :-(

Stock does not look all that great right now.

Sankey is the way to go....It's the trailer *designed* to be pulled behind a Land-Rover. Since they have the same hub pattern, there's no need to carry a spare for the trailer. Plus, if you screw in the drain plugs, it'll happily *float* behind your Rover on river crossings.

Cheers

Did you call, they still have them in stock?

Ask for something really obscure (as my friend did) and they'll drive you through the yard on their all-terrain forklift!
