looks like i'll be spending christmas up there, but can't find any trails via search. anyone know of anything?

isnt that area usually snowed in? anyway several trails along the east side of the sierras that will not be snowed in..... just drive and find or go to a ranger station and pick up a few maps

There are a couple of trails leading up the south side of the range from Rt. 74 to Rt. 243 just before Idyllwild. One starts in Bee Canyon, the other will be marked as "Old Control Road." I've driven one of the two, but don't remember which - I was on a club trip and was just following. It's a very scenic drive, though not technical. Send a PM if you want a map.
