I've not been up there, but my topo shows Jeep Trails in the Harper's Ferry Nat. Historic Park which is on the north side of the river (take Sandy Hook Rd probably for access if they'll let you).

Otherwise, there's a trail up to a radio tower off the end of Snider Ln (684) which is East off Harper's Ferry Rd (Rt. 671).

Further down 671 is what looks like a network of trails which is to the East of White Rock Rd... about 4 miles south of Rt. 340 to the East of Harper's Ferry Rd (671).

I'd suggest to grab an Atlas and Gazetteer of VA... (any large gas station I've seen has them but they are $20) Works pretty well keeping the navigator happy in the passenger seat quieter (and she's happier) and finding little stashes like those... good luck and post the results of your search if you find anything!

Let me know what you find... I'm pretty close, and looking for any opportunity to wheel without driving 3+ hours south.
Next time just head up to Rausch with me. Only 2.45 or so from here.

That was my first time up there, It was a really nice area. We found some very cool trails to hike on, but nothing to do any wheelin. The trail up to the radio tower was marked as private, although I'm not sure it was. A few others we found were clearly private because they led up to houses.
Next time I think we are just going to stay at the Cove.
