Trans Shifting Way Too Early?!?!

OK here is the problem... When firt accel from a stand still I believe the trans is shifting way to early.... I have an absolute power loss and constantly have to downshift in order to accel at all... Is the shift pattern adjustable or is it there is a TCM meaning it is not adjustable and it is what it is???

Also on a second problem.... I think my CDL is inop.... Vehicle shifts from high to low with no probblem however, when trying to engage the CDL the warning light in the dash does not come on.... Is there any other way to tell if the CDL is engaging and also if not where is the best place to start Diag??

did you disconnect the trans control cable at the plenum when you did your head gaskets?

tightening it up will make it shift later.

CDL is most likely contamination at the shifter...clean and regrease is almsot always the fix...oh yeah use dosent hurt it either

I had to have disconected it in order to pull the throttel body..... to tighten it just loosen the front nut and turn the dial Counter Clockwise.... A

To clean and regrease the CDL Shifter Pull the console and go from the top or is there a better way???

LOL...no need to pull the throttle body for a head gasket...pull the plenum and set it all connected to everything on the cowl.

yes counter clockwise with the cable end extends the cable sheeth and tightens the cable making the trans shift at a higher rpm.

I have my shifter set up so i can lube it from the top without removing the counsel...different people prefer different methods.

Well I guess I have to pull the console since this is the first time I am going to lubercate it... When I first bought the truck it was pretty sticky and would budge back over to the right but after moving it around alot It started to move freely... So when I take the console out just clean and lube the external linkage right??? No need to take any covers or anything off the xsfer case??
