The transfer case in my 99 DI has started acting up out of no where. For starters, while the lever is in the 4H position, you can freely move the handle right to left, from unlocked to locked while moving in any gear or sitting still in any gear. When doing this, the CDL light will come on and off.
When I shift to neutral and try to go to 4L or 4L and locked it becomes very difficult to move the lever to the desired position. Sometimes it take numerous shifts to drive or reverse to free it up and back to neutral before it will finally go into gear, sometimes rough with even some grinding.
