I changed my transmission fluid and filter in December on my 99 d1 and it is looking kind of bad and burnt. I have not driven it much because it is kind of a project vehichle. it does not feel like it is slipping. I bought it used in utah and changed all fluids before driving it home and have been putting high detergant fluids in because i did not know how well she was treated by previous owner. I was going to change fluid and filter in transmission again and hope I get most of the crud out. 132000 on rig. does anybody think I am at the begining of the end of my transmission?

There's. Lot more fluid in the transmission than you drain out with a filter change. I did three fluid changes over a month when I got my truck and now I change the fluid every few oil changes. Transmissions is the least of my worries

That was my thought just run fluid through every three months with new filter and hope most of it clears. I just dont know about those transmission flush jobs if they are good or bad. On my f350 I rebuilt the transmission and replace trans cooler and flushed any remaining hard lines after it went out. It didnt seem like a good idea to put somthing new in it and still have crud in lines and cooler.
