Transmission doesn't engage for a while

Hi All,
Since I had my transmission rebuilt (200k miles), I've had the problem that every so often (once a week or so), it will take the transmission up to 30-60 seconds to engage once the shifter is moved from park to drive or reverse.

After a while, there is a clunk, and everything is normal again.

It doesn't seem to be dependent on how long the truck was sitting.

Any ideas? My thought was that maybe the torque converter (new with the rebuild) was draining of fluid, but I'm just guessing.

best thing you can do at this time, hook up a pressure gauge to trans and get all readings, you may have a low pressure issue quite often due to a partially clogged filter.

The good news is that it could be an out-of-adjustment Inhibitor Switch. The bad news is that it could also be a pressure loss in the A-clutch circuit. It is not easy to find diagnostic info for these transmissions. If you had the specs you could take pressure readings and determine the fault but you may have to resort a Transmission shop for the answers.
