Transmission fault

Our 05 LR3 on occasion will indicate a transmission fault, suspension will drop to acces height and will not respond, terrain reponse will become nonresponsive and several lights light up and a burning rubber smell occurs. Not until it is shut down and restarted does everything reset and returns to normal. Anyone have this problem? It does have the heavy duty package with locking rear diff that i have read fail often. Dealer says faults arent stored and not to worry about it since it resets but pain in the butt to pull over and restart.

there was a software update that addressed most of that, IIRC.. that was common in the first round of 05s. how long have you had it? rebooting a car is certainly an annoyance..

We have had this vehicle only 2 weeks. Before we bought it i insisted they do the software updates and any recall work but i have my doubts anything was done. Anyway to tell if any updates have been done? Thanks for your help.

Go back to the dealer and have them pull the service history on the vehicle. It will show everything that has been done. The can run a printout and might have copies of the service orders if you purchased a local truck and they have been doing the service work on it.

I have the same problem, and I just took it to the dealer with pictures of the dash when this happens. It has been to the stealership several times with this problem and it has not been resolved because they can not "recreate the problem." In Europe they were replacing the LR3 wiring harness with a RR sport harness and that seemed to help. I mentioned this to the local stealership, but I'll wait to see if anything is done. I've aready got a case number with LRNA about the crappy service at my closest stealership, so if they screw up this time I'm going to put the screws to them.

The stealership just told me that they have to replace the rear diff. That was causing all my problems. I seriously doubt this. I have worked on all the vehicles that I own, and for the life of me I can not understand how the rear diff. can cause every light in the truck to go off. I plan on calling LRNA about this. This is just plain odd.

Dealer told me to check the sunroof drain to make sure it isnt plugged and the seal plate to see if it is pinching wires. Guess ill try this first since dealer is 3.5 hour drive.

Well I was wrong, and since I have the HD rear diff it is tied to everything.:banghead: This could actually be my problem. Cross fingers. I feel your pain. My closest dealership is 2 hours away.

All software patches installed were installed and faults occured immediately after as tech drove it into the carwash. Code P186D-00 reset as a hard fault. Per consultation with LRNA techline, it needs a new rear diff and it is now on backorder. Codes P186D-00 and U1A4A-68. Hope these can help someone with same prob.

Yep. The dealership is being extra nice this time. They gave me a loaner car, and they said they were going to actually fix a problem this time.

Just got mine back today. The dealership actually came and picked it up and left me a loaner. The repair only took about a day. I just hope all is well now.

They have had mine for 4 days now. Hmmmm.... I just hope all the problems are fixed. A trouble free ride for a week would be nice. Also not have the airbag light and the engine light on constantly would be great.
