Transmission Issues

Hello Everyone

97 D1 AT 75,000miles. In the morning and when the truck sits for longer than 4-5 hours, the transmission will not upshift and it will continue that way for about 2-3 minutes before deciding to finally shift from 1st through the gears. Reverse works fine and fluid level is good.

Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

So how long has it been since you serviced the ******?? How is the fluid level now and is it brown and does it have a burned smell???
You might seriously think about having some flush yours out and when putting in the new fluid add some like Lucas to transmission.

Have you had a transmission service? Sounds like the filter may be plugged till the fluid gets warm then passes threw. Also check the adjustment on the kick down cable.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the responses. ****** serviced at 60,000. Fluid level is full and it is red in color and does not smell burnt.

Alot of them do this.
Mine usually after a fluid change started about 90k.
Up here I suffer from it in cold weather but you're in Tampa...hmm
It might go away in a couple of days.
Try sitting in neutral for 30 second to allow the fluid to warm up.
If those don't work, I'd change the filter. they are such pigs to do that its not unknown for repair shops to not actually do the work
