If the transfer case has been maintained at all I bet it's just in neutral. Wouldn't trust the linkage either.

I'm with Eric on this one. If it broke while you tried to climb something crazy, or doing something stupid,maybee. But I just don't understand what could have broken. An axle fucks with some really good mechanics for a while.
