So the zf in my 88 occasionally clunks when coming to a stop. It's not terrible but it is noticeable. Tried adjusting the kickdown and it up shifts great but the clunk remains.. Swapped in some new fluid clunk is still there (as expected).. Any suggestions?

I'll probably ride it out until it dies and have been considering an R380. Is the conversion any different into a 1988 RRC?

drivetrain slop make the clunk more pronounced. My clunk got better with new u-joints on both drive shafts.

Yea that and new bushings will be on the list. At first I thought it was radius arm bushings and then I noticed it doesnt happen all the time but happens more often when it's cold. Thanks for the advice

For the clunk - check the ball joint in the rear suspension. I had what sounded like a trans clunk and it was actually the ball joint.

Also beeping when in low range.. Need to adjust linkage I believe.. Any advice?
It is adjustable. Shop manual tells how. I can send you the page if you don't have it.
Or you can disconnect it from the noise maker.... I believe it's the purple wire but I'll have to double check that one.

Wire is BP (black with purple stripe).

Yea I'm familiar with that clunk, this is happening in the front for sure. Once I get the disco back together ill pull it in the garage and start work on it..

The one from that 87 or D1? I may take you up on that. Can we put it on the lift or flip it on it's side? :D I'll give you a call soon - Would like to come up there before I go to Burlington for Christmas..
