I have a 97 D1 A/T with 200K+ miles. Recently it seems that when the vehicle attempts an upshift (I think mostly from 1 to 2 or 2 to 3) on occasion I hear a quick whining sound -- almost sounds like a rev-limiter type sound. I am assuming it is from the transmission but it is hard to localize the sound.
Does anyone know what this might be?
