Did some searching on these retreads and it seems that most people are pleased. Don't want to start a debate about retreads.

Im looking for some pics of the tires closeup. I'd like to see what they look like other than the pictures they have on the website.

So if anyone is running them, please post a pic or two!

Well, with an offroad modded 6000lb + disco that may or may not be in the middle of nowhere. I seriouly doubt many on this board are running retreads. Now, over on LandRoversOnly you may get better feedback. I have the number to a little backwood tire shed just north of Alpharetta that can sell you 5 Maxxis BigHorn 285/75 16 M/B for under 900.

Actually if you search retreads on this board you'd be surprised.

Just wanted to see some close up pics of the tires out of curiosity.

Well that's fine. I certianly wasn't taking into account peoples decision making skills. So you guys leave the gators on the trail or laying across I-75. I mean maybe I can understand it a little more as a trail tire, if you take plenty of spares and don't use them at all on Hwy.

Retreads are just more commonly linked with failure and in this or any other vehicle this heavy why take the chance when you get a new set for maybe a hundred bucks more.

You know a lot of tractor trailer tires are retreads? They haul a lot more than 6klbs too, and create a lot more heat then wheeling a 6klb truck at 4mph.

Tractors have blowouts whether brand new tires, or retreads. It luck of the draw with tires, distance, haul weight, etc.

Personally, Ive never seen them on off road vehicles, but would be interested in seeing the quality.

I have their mud terrains on my truck. I drive it every day about 50 miles a day mostly highway.. and they are great!
Off road theyre even better. They run a little on the large size. compared to a regular tire in the same size.

They dont make these tires the same way as the retreads on tractor trailors. These are injection molded where as the semi tires are glued on.

They are 265/75 -16 on yokohama geolander 10 ply

Thanks K-Rover. Did you request what casing you wanted? And how is the noise level since you daily drive them?

I did not request what casings. just that they be matching and be 10-ply. The noise is just like a mud tire.. kinda loud, but not unreasonable. After a while i just dont notice the noise. offroad is where they shine!!

Here is a shot of mine. FWIW - I used them on my daily driver and never had any issues with them. Also did a fair share of desert driving on them (not totally loaded out) out in Ocotillo Wells and Anza Borrego - again no issues on the trails. I've never heard a bad thing about Tread Rights either, but I can't speak about other retreads.

I've never been one for using retreads. I've never really been loyal to any particular brand, either. I've run GY, BFG, Dunlop, Mich, and Hankook. You catch my drift. But if the price of tires keep going up, I'll won't thing twice about retreads. I've never paid over $100 per tire. But some of the ones I've been using have gone up by 50-75%. There are some things in life I won't go cheap on. But tires have all but fallen off that list.

Well, by all means gentlemen best of luck and swing for the fences. I mean no disrespect; just my opinion. But, "You know a lot of tractor trailer tires are retreads?" per square mile around ATL how many gators do you see a dozen, maybe 2 dozen. I'd maybe put retreads on a buggy however, I'd never trust my families safety to them.

I've seen one too many start coming apart after being wheeled. If you cant afford new tires, buy used tires but I cannot see the benefit to buying used tires with new tread slapped on.

:smilelol: so buying somebodys used tires are a better option?? wow.. ok
at least treadwright offers a warranty. and inspect the tires before using them. Once again.. these are NOT like the tractor trailer tires everyone thinks of. I havent seen one bad review from anyone who has actually owned a set.. the only bad reviews are from people who have never even tried them!! :victory:

I had two Mich 4X4 seperate just months apart about four years back. Went with the Hankook and been happy ever since. But those same Hankooks that I got for $79 a tire 3 years ago are now $150. I've GY blow apart too.

I have had treadwrights on for 20,000 miles and 2 years they are 285/75/16's and 10 plys. I have never had a single issue with them, I have had 3 sets on other rigs and never had a problem, I do know from first hand experience that in 2008 they had issues with there fake bfg all- terrain's . Also if you want amazing ice and snow traction look into there "green diamond " ones.

Because no one who spends 800 bucks on retreads will admit what a dumbass move it was.
