Trek wheels

I have had a TReK DII for 3 years now, trying to keep mods low key, but the one thing that has bugged me since day one is that my wheels are not the same wheels that originally came with this edition. I have considered the powdercoat/painted rims route, but don't really want to go down that road. I bought this from a dealership and at the time didn't realize that the wheels were not the originals (dealership probably swapped them and resold them at some marked up price).

My question:
1. What are these wheels called?
2. Does anyone have any idea where to get a set? Any ideas?

My wheels

TRek vehicles just look better with those wheels, but sourcing them has been difficult.

I could be wrong, but I thought that the Trek vehicles came with two sets. 1 black with mud terrains and the 2nd silver with all-terrains or road tires.

I know this doesn't help you, but maybe the dealer had sold the black rims & tires as the silvers were currently on your truck. I know someone with an 04 Trek and that's how his came with 2 sets.

the black wheels were pulled off the earlier TReK D2's and reused on the following years event trucks as were the original full brush bar/winch bumpers on the 99 & 00 TReK trucks. But after the later events, the TReK trucks that were released for sale it was a toss up if they either had the black wheels or standard. I think on how beat up the black wheels got during the event may be a factor in if the truck made it to open market with them on it as well as what a dealership would do when they got it. I remember one or 2 of them coming with both sets but I dont think it was a set in stone policy of what was to be sold with them.

Here's another picture of the same vehicle you're referring to.

It appears that they are powder coated. I would suggest Ebay or maybe even the dealer. I thought they were the Proline style wheels but those only came in 18" and they have deeper grooves in the middle of the spokes. This image is from roverconnection.

Are those Pro-line wheels? Bruinlad says Proline makes only 18" wheels in that style, but the black wheels on the TReK are definitely 16 inchers.

The black ones above are from P38. Here's a set I have:

See the difference with the Proline wheels I posted earlier from rover connection. Although they somewhat look similar, the gooves on Norcal's appear to be shallow (maybe just the pic) and are definitely 16". The LR part nos. should be embossed/etched whatever, behind the wheel itself. Perhaps Mr. Norcal can look behind his spare for the number so you can use it for googling or when you call the stealer should you decide to buy it there. :D

The wheels are just powdercoated, nothing special. Also, LRNA takes off the MT tires and puts on factory tires on to the black rims after TReK. This is done for liability reasons. So, when the dealership bought it, it had the black rims with stock tires.

Chris,

You are right about those brushguards. Those few brushguards were the only factory full brushguards with winch mounts ever made for D2's.
