Trend Micro PCillin question

I just downloaded Trend Micro's Pccillin.

Once installed, I noticed the fan kept constantly running, so I pulled up the windows task manager and my CPU usage is really high, bouncing between 50% and 100%. It never gets lower than that, and the fan never stops running.

Is this normal?

Hmmn. So now what? I have 46 processes running. PCillin scan isn't finding anything. The CPU usage is still high, even after I found all the PCillin processes and ended them. I have a shitload of SVCHOST.exe stuff running --specifically, it's listed 5 times under the running processes. The only other process that seems to be using alot of memory is Explorer.exe.

I don't know shit about this. Any help out there?

maybe your machine is running updates and automatically installed them behind the scenes?

A reboot should clear SVCHOST.EXE. That is a process for networking stuff.... if you have a ton of them it's possible it's a virus, or spyware.

Try running the online version of trend micro - if it is a virus, it may prevent the virus scanner software to execute properly and scan it properly, since it's already in the system. the online system scan should find it at least, may not clear it.

Also run a good spyware scan, try using spy sweeper.

I'm about to throw this thing out of the window.

I only run Firefox, and I use the noscript add on.

I run Spybot and Ad Aware every couple of weeks or so.

But I am on a network at work with a bunch of people even more moronic than myself.

So, a week ago, everyone at work starting getting shady looking emails. I didn't open them.

Two days ago, I turned on the laptop to find a blue screen telling me the startup encountered an error. I turned it off then back on and everything was cool.

I tried running the Trend Micro housecall just to be safe after that, but my battery ran out halfway through it. When I logged back on after plugging in the powercord, I figured fuck it, I'll just do the PCillin 30 day trial instead of running housecall. This was last night.

So I installed it, and that's when I noticed the cpu usage not ever dropping below 50%, often spiking up to 100%.

I'm fairly retarded when it comes to this stuff. I'm running Spybot search and destroy again right now. I tried running housecall from the TrendMicro website, but it won't work for some reason.

Should I do a system restore to a few days ago? Would that help?

Fuck it. I just unistalled PCillin and everything is right in the world. CPU usage is back to normal and this aggravating fan has stopped running, finally.

sheesh.

I'd still like to use their product, but WTF was that.

email trend micro they are very helpful they will send a spy & virus scan that works in safe mode. also try there house calls. thats avail on ther web site.
there spy scan is pretty good as well. i use spyware doctor is seems to do the trick
go into task manager & end tasks that u don't think should be running do your research on the tasks. a simple search for the task will work for that
