Kevin,
With TT you should not see any difference in front whether you have manual or auto. In the rear, you would feel difference between a Detroit Locker and Detroit TrueTrac with a manual, the TT being less noticeable while driving. With an auto, DL is less noticeable than with a manual and so the extra traction is worth the slightly harsher than TT behavior. With an auto I would run TT/DL (frt/rr) with a manual dual TTs if you're concerned with on-road behavior.

What are you doing with a Czech name in Burbank? :D At least it sounds CZ could be some other Slavic name. Hehehehe

Milan,

Thanks for the input. When funds allow I think I will go TT in the front. I am 4th generation Czech. The name has been americanized over the years. We pronounce it mokrasik instead of mokrachek as I think it is supposed to sound.

4th gen, eh? That's a long time to be amercanized for sure.

Good luck on that TT. It is a well behaved quality diff.

10 milliseconds - but, most people I've seen running ARBs run them open nearly all the time, and think that they'll lock them when it's needed. The problem is - the instance it's needed happens these 10 milliseconds earlier. And, in many instances, the air has already leaked out of the lines and whatever reservoir there was, so flipping the switch does nothing until the air pump does its jazz for a few seconds.

disclaimer - that's my personal observation.

Mine are always locked when I need them, off when I don't. It's just a question of reading the trail.

Doesn't Detroit make an electric locker now that will fit the D1?

No. But they've promised the Electrac will be available "in a few months" for a couple years now.

The Electrac operates as a TruTrac unlocked and has the option of being locked via an electric switch. I think it offers the best of both worlds IF it was available.

Have been observing 2 Electracs in D44 front axles on 2 different TJs for a while now. Indeed the best of both worlds. Limited slip when "open", a spool when "locked". I hope the do come out for the LR diffs.
