So I get a Facebook page. Cause everybody says you gotta be on it if you’re in business. So post on this P38 page. Cause I’m a huge fan of the LP Range. Here’s how that went.
I’m kinda glad. It’s good to see right away what kind of fucking morons they are to let that stupid dick moderate anything.

Let’s see how long that retard lets this stand.

You might as well post in the tech forum here about your Land Rover Pegasus. No one calls it a LP.

but a quick google would tip off whatever twat is moderating the forum.

We call them out by the 3rd and 4th vin digit. LP LM LD LJ LD LT LF. We kind of stopped and don’t call out the new RANGE ROVERS LIKE THAT. Seems like L405 and L494 for the new range and the new sport

Peter is right...if you follow facebook vehicle advice you'll be running a plumber's snorkel and be damn proud of it.

At least its not tiktok or discord. We might have to go back to books since good information on the internet is so fragmented and administrated by the sensitive types these days

Until now I had never heard of LP Range Rover.
Maybe it’s just us old timers. What all you guys cal an L322 is a LM.
I can’t be the only one left that calls them that. Sometimes a ticket will just say Range Rover and a kid will be having a hard time finding it and one of us will have to tell him what model Range Rover he’s looking for.

I have a Facebook page and am a member of several automotive groups. I have a Tacoma and am on one of those groups. It is absolutely obnoxious and almost useless. It is like every other tacoma owner is an angry opinionated toddler and politics seem to surface with every topic, usually very misinformed angry politics. It’s amazing what people will believe. I’m very thankful the political stuff stays out of this web forum. I’m on a few Land Rover Facebook groups. Those are somewhat better but also full of nonsense and people that live to be asshats. Those groups can be helpful to buy and sell but it is unfortunately the same obnoxious crowd. Facebook is my second to last stop if I am trying to let some surplus stuff go. eBay is last due to the fees but sometimes it’s worth the fees to not have to deal with the Facebook idiots.

Social media gives idiots a platform to share misinformation and angst where other idiots validate them. I may sound like an old fart but I believe Facebook (and other social media) has made the world a less reliable and friendly place. The idiots have always been there but now they have a place to spread and grow their ignorance. People that want to believe almost anything will.

I only opened a Facebook account because my job required it. I am retired now and do not have to keep it. I’ve shut it down a few times but came back. My family posts photos and activities often and i will almost certainly keep my Facebook account but if I had never initially been required to open one I wouldn’t have one now. I have many friends that never got on Facebook and have no interest now. I never got on Twitter / X and certainly have no interest in the others.

Frankly Skip, knowing you the little bit I do, I suggest walking away. Or, only “friend” family members you really like. I wouldn’t even ”friend” actual friends. Unfortunately, some of my real friends, once I see what they post on Facebook, I don’t want to know them any longer.

From another perspective, I can definitely see why a business would need a Facebook page. My wife owns a Yoga studio and Facebook is an important way for people to connect to her business. But, she also runs a recurring ad in the local paper. She gets more good repeat clients from the newspaper ad than Facebook. Also, while Facebook is good for her business, it’s also where the time wasters mostly come from. It is not uncommon for people to cont act her through Facebook with lots of questions and seeming enthusiasm about attending classes who never are to be seen in person. She had one person repeatedly ask for her to create a new time slot for a class. My wife gave in and did. That person never showed and was never to be heard from again.

I am going to share one interesting Facebook experience. I previously used my actual first and last name on Facebook. I know many in law enforcement and they never use their real names. My thought was that being in law enforcement keeping personal things private is really important but for me I didn’t think it was necessary.

Over the years my account was cloned multiple times. I never understood why someone would want to assume my Facebook identity. Each time I became aware of it I would just notify Facebook and they would cancel the cloned account.

Also, I regularly would get friend requests from beautiful women at least 30 years younger than me. Obviously, they were scammers. I would say to myself, “Good lord, who would fall for this?” But, there must be people out there that do.

One day, a few years ago, I decided to see if changing my name (removed my last name and substituted a different one) would make a difference.

All of the scammer friend requests stopped coming. I have no idea why that change mattered so much. I haven’t had any “clone” incidents since then either.

LOL. You guys? I've been into Rovers for 37 years and this is first time I have heard it.

Good luck on Facebook with an attitude to an admin or moderator.

I warned you about that forum. It's the only one I've ever been banned from. Guy comes into a thread and tries to start a flame war. I tell him to fuck off. Mod PM's me and tells me I can't speak to others like that. I tell him I wouldn't have to if he'd do his job, and he banned me.

I wanted to come back to this when I had more time. TW is a great resource. I love where my Tacoma is and most, if not all of it is due to TW. That said there is a lot of shit to wade through there. Why? Well, they have a lot of advertisers and vendors. What drives how much you can charge them? Traffic. What drives traffic, a normal conversation like this one, or a flame war? Not only do they allow it I think they encourage it. To the point I noticed how personally the admin took the response to the poster trying to start a war. Could they be one in the same.

The Land Rover Discovery 2 forum has a dude that answers every post with a wall of text. He knows everything about everything and can type long and hard to prove it. He also points out the group files with everything you could ever want to know about a D2 but were afraid to ask.
It's funny how some moderators think of themselves as so important. I bet their mom's put clothes pins on their peepee's when they had bad thoughts.
