trying to plan my lift

Hi all and thanks for any info or advice.

I currently have some OME HD springs.

The goal is to at one point get 33's on

My understanding is they arent really going on with a 2" lift.

So I am thinking about going 3" or 4"

I know once I do that I have some driveshaft angle issues.

More important I guess is what considersations do I need to make
On the stock steering componets with 33's, any real gearing issues.

Need to figure out how much im biting of

Haven't even considered this on the RRC and if I do, it will be a while.

But, I do have a lot of experience with 3" on a disco.

You have to get it on there to see what it would take to make it good on your rig.

If you have the same experience I did with 3" (tall 3"), on a disco, here is what I needed to make it right running 255/85-R16 BFG MTs (34").

3" springs
Front and rear driveshafts.
Rear links (extended for rear pinion and wheel well clearance)
Front arms (correct pinion angle)
Front swivel balls (castor corrected, for proper steering).
New shock mounts, rear for increased droop due to more lift.
New rear shocks
Extended brake lines to allow drop
4.11 gears (compensate for loss of gearing due to 33's)
HD locking diff (stock center pin prone to break)
HD Axles (well you have a new diff, better get axles)
HD CVs (well you got new axles and diff, better get these too)

Another consideration is near 33. 235/85-R16 BFG MT are 32. You could, I think, fit those with minor mods on a 2" lift. Either some minor trimming or some strategic bending of key parts of the fender. You could always just take it out and slowly articulate to see where you rub. Then trim or tuck metal. If you hit the front of the rear well, extend rear links or add extension to A-Arm. If you rub back, see if you can get away with tucking the mnetal lip. If nothing else trim or ad a small spacer (but springs are better).

Topics pretty much killed, but I'd love to hear what the current take is.

Hey, that's OK too. That's basically how I ended up doing mine. I just gave all the stuff that I ended up replacing due to breakage.

I'm at about 3.5" lift now running 265x75/16 tires, and I don't have any wierd driveline probs or wandering steering probs (not any worse than before when I had a 1 and 2" lift)... maybe some of the drag links, steering stuff, etc would help...

Thanks for all of the info everyone.

I travel with my wife and 2.5 year old so driving stuff till it breaks is not an option, I need to spend the money to do it right up front.

I know I can go 2" with the 235-85-16s and just roll the fenders
I was looking to maybe go a bit more but it appears to do it right its going to cost some serious $$$

You don't need to roll any fenders or modify anything... 235's fit a 2" lift no problem because the tires are skinny...

I think 3-4" with 265/75/16s is the perfect setup. Get +2 " springs and add a small plate for the rest of the lift. Get castor corrected radius arm bushings at the minimum, corrected arms are better. Run it till the wheels fall off.
