That's kinda normal. The "Oh" wasn't though.
Don't need limited slip oil. It's a gear type limited slip, not clutch.

what is normal?

I would guess that the sound comes from the engine fan hitting the shroud. Look at your motor mounts.
If a TT makes a noise, it's a dead TT.

Looks like only one wheel spinning dirt into the water at the end when the noise starts. The locker may not be dead but it doesnt appear to be working. Are you turning the wheels while spinning causing the locker to ratchet? Are you pulling backwards? Where is the strap hooked? It looks pretty high to be hooked up to the rear.

Havent i seen the truck in your avatar before. I noticed the small rack above the spare tire.

definitely sounds like you need to replace your motor mounts.

I've seen an xj break a motor mount and the alternator fan would hit the hood everytime he hit the gas. he had to pop the hood and winch himself off the reservior rocks. good times...

it's hooked to the rear bmp, OME 3" lift on 34", pull fr, one tire spin steady dig.

My TT made that same noise. I'm kind of glad you got that on video; others thought I was talking out my as when I posted about it doing that, I'll have to find that thread, now.

Mine would do it when I had one of the front wheels really pinned up. It's just one of the down falls to having a LSD like that. It will be OK, though. Mine lives in a daily driver D-90, now. All is well.

How on the earth can a TT make a noise like that?

That sound in the video clip is exactly the sound I've heard two weeks ago on trail, when I tried to force my way over something. The sound was the fan hitting the shroud. Next thing that happened - MAF got separated from the plenum.

And my motor mounts seem to be okay - old and crusty, but not yet separated.

It sets vibrations up that are conducted through the air. If you're there to hear it, it's noise, if not, it's still noise but you just weren't there to hear it.

WTF are you talking about? What vibrations? In a properly-working TT, all components are in constant contact, unlike clutch-type LSD or an automatic locker. Any ratcheting sound coming from the TT means that the pins on which the satellite gears are riding are worn out to the point that the satellite gears make contact with the carrier.
So, it's either not a TT, or TT's about to hit the dust.

Have you ever seen the rubber motor mounts stretch? It's actually pretty fucking crazy!! There is a video out there somewhere showing someone stretching them in a home-made contraption. They were not rover, but similar. Damn thing stretched to like 8 or 9 inches!! before breaking.

All the TT's I've seen make that noise when in a bind. Don't know what it is, but mine did it from day one.

Mine have never done it in 7 years, and I ride it with the brake pedal down HARD.
I heard the noise that sounded exactly like this, and saw scratch marks on the engine fan and shroud - right after I rode the TT with the brakes down - and shortly after that the MAF popped loose.
