Yesterday I put on my right turn signal and noticed it was blinking twice as fast as normal. Thought maybe a bulb had went out. Pulled over and it is on just fine. Get back in and drive off. Put on the right signal again a few blocks later and it was normal, then it sped up, then normal, all in about 10 secs. I checked again today and all signals work fine. What is going on with that????

I think I might have one of those huge Redneck front window visor decals made that says "Intermittent Wire Contact"

If it has a trailer harness on it disconnect it and see if it acts up again. Look for water in the tail lights and really look close at the lights when they act up. Somethings gotta be not lit when that's happening.

Yeah I was thinking speedy blinking meant a bulb was out. This Rover has a strange knack for something new going wrong as soon as I fix the current issue. Almost like it is set on a timer to only allow me 36hrs of trouble free operation, then BAMN it hits me with something else....

I need to start an indy Rover repair shop. These things are a gold mine.

Fixing Land Rovers for a living is a game designed to humble the mighty. Every new item that comes up will always be your fault.

Finally was able to pull over when it was blinking fast. Front right wasn't blinking. Pulled out the bulb and of course it is fine bc when it blinks slow, it works. Nothing really looked bad. I used a pencil eraser on the contacts, some contact cleaner, then I bent the contact up a bit to give a better connection. We'll see what happens.

No issues since. That little contact tab was just a little too low. Bending it up was all that was needed. First time I've ever seen that on a vehicle. Land Rover ownership sure is interesting. I'm learning a ton about how to fix stuff on vehicles, so it isn't all bad.

You aren't suspicious that blinkers just started doing this and then bending contacts that have been in the same position all along completely fixed it? Did you do anything recently that would have fudged contacts out of position? Otherwise, my guess is that you have a turn signal bulb that is on its way out even though it looks OK. You will probably find that if you let it go, one of the bulbs will soon go out. I have found that the intermittent blinker is sometimes a fair warning that bulb is close to failure. I normally wouldn't have said anything as this is such a minor issue BUT if you tend to drink and drive or "ride dirty" then i would spend the $10 and replace the bulbs anyway for peace of mind. Never give the police an excuse to stop you

You could have fixed a bad contact in the socket, but possibly its an intermittent bulb. Happens all the time. I go in to replace a bulb and it starts working the second I touch it.

Roger that on all of dat!!! I'm a freak about all my lights working. For those very reasons above. I check them off the reflection in the vehicles in front and behind me, garage wall. I actually walked around it with the lights and 4 ways on last Friday night at 2am before I drive home from a bar. I'm a veteran of that shit. Don't forget about the little license plate bulbs either.

That bulb is 4 months old. That bulb was out when I bought it in April and replaced it. Filament was broke. Like I said, the contact was really low as in I could see it was sitting too deep in the slot, plus a little corroded, so I cleaned it really good with an eraser. I only bent it about 1-2mm. I carry spare new bulbs in all my vehicles, so I'm not being a cheap skate.

I will keep a close eye on it though. Thanks for the tips and concern.

When my fast blinky happened a year ago or so (front left) the bulb was fine but the socket was corroded. A replacement socket from the local LR dealer would have been only $10-$12 but would have taken a week to get here. Since it came up on a Friday and I'm impatient I MacGyvered a solution over the weekend and rebuilt the metal parts in the socket from some various scraps I had lying around. It's still working now. Glad yours was just a bad contact.

Just cut one out of a parts truck or have someone else send you one. Then splice it in with crimp n seal connectors. That's what your going to get from the parts dept. probably a foot or less wire hanging out of the new bulb holder. These trucks are everywhere cannibalize them cause shits getting hard to find.

That bulbs only 4 months old but it's probably a shitty bulb and its last 4 months equals about 2 yrs of driving for my disco.
