from the article:

""We will be able to literally put on the fights that everyone wants to see," Lorenzo Fertitta said. "It will allow us to put on some of the biggest fights ever."

In the past, there has been at least one case in which Pride and UFC couldn't hammer out a deal to put their top fighters in the ring together. With Pride in their pocket, the Fertitta brothers intend to ensure that never happens again."

Also of interest from that article:

"Similar to Pride, buying WFA gave UFC the rights to a popular fighter named Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Jackson will face UFC's most popular fighter, Chuck Liddell, the current light heavyweight champ in Las Vegas, on May 26 on PPV."

Jackson beat Liddell to the punch consistently when he beat him -- I'm looking forward to seeing if that was a fluke, or tactical precision.

I wonder what the ring/cage will look like for these cross-brand fights?

Good. Now maybe the Pride fights won't be so freakin' boring! Sometimes it is like watching teeth being pulled.

On a similar note, there are some pretty good fighters coming up the ranks in the new IFL (International Fight League). Those fighters are still green but some of them show a lot of potential.

D*mn, to be 20 years younger!

I dunno, it seems like Pride will still be operating under the same rules and name as before. I think that once a year or so, they will have crossover mega cards, but other than that it should be business as usual.

Oh man, that sucks then. Sometimes the Pride fighters seem so out of shape and slow. Oh well, at least we get to see Jackson/Liddell. After seeing both fight, I think Chuck will take him. Jackson leaves himself open too much and Chuck always seems to sneak that knock out punch in there.

Don't a number of UFC fighters fight in Pride? Or was that all old footage prior to the 'new' UFC management?

The rules are basically the same, with the exception of knees and kicks to the head being allowed in Pride (due to safety issue of a head being stomped while against the fence).

Personally, I don't like the ring, epsescially when they relocate the fight to the middle of the ring. On the same note, I don't like them standing up the fighters in the UFC when the ground battle gets boring... It all seems too 'fake'.

The real question is who WILL fight Fedor?

CroCop's dream of leaving pride to become a champion, is starting to look like a nightmare.

Chuck's days are numbered, if he beats Rampage, he may have to face Maurico Rua, Arona, Silva, and now Henderson.

I don't see the UFC all to eager to have the Pride fighters come in and clear house.

I see a big New Year's fight card, a Pride v. UFC superfights. Perhaps twice a year, but not nearly enough.

Personally, I'll like it better if there is once a year, megafight card for bragging rights.

Kinda like all that's good about the World Series (or what used to be good, before the leagues starting playing each other mid-season).

All year long, people will be wondering what brand of fighting will win out at year's end.

The marketing possibilities are endless.

I think the worst thing that could happen is to mix everything up.
