That raised roof helps for game spotting on safari in Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, etc). Raise the roof, passengers stand up in the shade, and look at the pretty lions, leopards, hippos, etc. Abercrombie and Kent originated that on Land Rovers before most of you were born.

Oh dang that's cool......

The Dormobile is the most common Rover camper conversion, which has the roof hinged along the right side, which tilts up, having a tent open like an accordion, with bunks above and the seats also convert into sleepers... http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/Dormobile/pictures.html

Then there's a Carawagon, which lifts vertically like this one, but it is arched from side-to-side. http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/Carawagons.htm

Those are, by far, the most well known ones. But, there are others.

The Panda X-cab: http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/LandRoverCaravan/XpandaCab.htm

The Park-Ranger: http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/parkRanger.htm

And the Explorer: http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/LandRoverExplorer.htm

But I've never seen one like this one, this is cool.... I wonder if it's a different kind of a Park-Ranger, some variant of theirs, or if this is a totally different critter.....

This is a great find! Yeah, it's different, but, dang, it's one more kind of camper version out there..... neat-o.....

Back in the USA; Rockwood, PA
the serial number is correct for a NADA version - they all start with 343...

for the US, they (811 of them) were imported as a 1967 model year.

can't tell from the pics if the roof vents still are in place or not.

for sure it is different.
