 Alright Ive been thinking on this for way too long and I think that its time that I make up my mind but first I want your opinions and comments. I have a 99 DI. I already have an OME 3 inch lift (764s and 762s with 1 inch spacer in rear) and I just now put on some 265/75s that I got for cheap. It performs okay, but I have 3 inch lift and shocks that are made for a 2 inch lift. So not so flexy as I prefer. I would really like to run a more aggressive lift and tires on my truck but I just cant decide. I was looking at the rovertym 3 inch with a 1 inch spacer (front and rear 1 inch spacer) and all the radius arms, rear links, cones, and long travel shocks to go with it. As well I would like to run a 33-34 inch tire on a offset steel wheel. I like the idea of a bit wider tire to if you know what I mean (like a 10.50-11.50 width). Not to wide, but not too skinny. As I plan on running gears and lockers and the HD axles. But I just want some ideas on what would be the best options for me. This is my daily driver but I really dont drive that much. Please let me know what you think.

Maybe I wrote that the wrong way. I intend on going "somewhere" Kyle, but those are my preferences as to what I am looking for. I head up to Windrock OHV a lot with some buddies of mine that have jeeps. And I have been to Royal Blue a few times, but not my thing there. But my love is at Tellico. I love it there and you cant beat it to me. I havent been out west yet so maybe Ill have different thoughts later. But yes I do plan on using my disco as I already do and I think that Im ready for a more beefy and aggressive disco that I can take on a lot more trails and enjoy it more.

Well there arent many places you cant go on the 32s... So my recomendation would be to focus on durability....

Believe me there are plenty of places that I cant go on 32s and durability is an issue but I am talking about suspension and tires right at this moment.

you were right the first time

I say run what you brung till you can make the 32's go almost anywhere...then you wont need to ask anyone what you should "upgrade" to

We (solaros in atlanta) run quite a few discos (I and II series) up at tellico, most with 2" lift and 245- or 265's and do just fine. There's a pretty good range of trucks; series models, defenders, discos from all years and in all conditions. Now, the discos don't get up to helicopter pad or crawl through rock garden, but do get quite a bit of challenging trail time. If it was me, I'd spend the $ on sliders if you haven't already.

Hey - in fact, we're headed up to tellico at the end of april for the weekend. checkout www.solaros.com

I ma not sure what you want. You laid out a plan, and you want us to agree to it? Okay, go ahead and do it :D
I have 3" lift, 32s and I run with guys up to 5" and 34s... not worth the extra money to me yet, lots of engineering to figure when you get that high. Armor is cheaper, my next plans involve some sort of belly slider and a new rear bumper with a gas tank skid. What can you not do that you want to do? Upper 2 at Tellico? not in a Disco... unless it is a buggy.

SO- what do you want it to do that it does not do now?

Seems this guy is getting a lot of abuse for asking a simple enough question.

It's not the fact he doesnt like your answers, it's more the replies are not answers.

Just because someone has driven across most of the country does not make them the knowledge-champion (no offence directly to Kyle). Maybe Discokid drives some much harder terrain than you have and knows more?

Before you point it out, I myself have no answers and am aware of that fact.

I used discoweb a lot before the server move and feel that since coming back, there's a lot more abuse and less tolerance. Is this an online forum or a club where if you're not known you're nothing?

Well, got that off my chest, hopefully some decent answers will follow.

Hey its your rig do it. Just cause some guys are content and do well with what they got doesn't mean you have to follow them. I'm a durability fan first but like the idea of bigger and higher. If you have the time and $ go higher. Nadim Samara runs 35" or better on his disco. Maybe your next post should be "who out there runs xy and z and how do you like it". Believe me I know what its like to try and keep up with purpose built rigs (and better drivers) on the trail with a daily driver. You constantly think of what you should do to your rig next.

I say do your home work and go for it. :D

Theres alot of choices out there and it sounds as though you know what to do! If you can afford to get the rovertym lift with the cones, radius arms, rear links, loing travel shocks, driveshafts, etc.. then go for that!
Otherwise you should be able to extend the shocks you have (or buy new shocks) and slap in a bodylift you'll clear 34's easily with a 3" suspensh lift and 2" body lift. Some might ask what you'll do about the steering, and shifter with a BL, but don't tell them its a secret we are keeping. :D If your not scared to do some trimming to your truck you'll probably squeeze a 34 in there with no other lift.

A 34X10.50 shouldn't need offset rims, that a narrow tire dude.

Well read the boys post. What does it say ? Then what did I say to him ? I gave him advice. He just doesnt want it. And he feels that he is talking beyond what I know. Well here is what I know. Go annd buy every SINGLE suspension item from RTE or whoever and dont take my advice. RIght afterwards a novice in a Disco thats locked with 32s will spank that ass on any trail you think you can make...

Lockers and axles would be considered DURABILITY items in my book even before I would consider them performance items. I also have no idea why "Out West" keeps getting brought up every single time I get into a post such as this like there is something about the East coast I dont understand. I grew up on the East coast where I still reside today. Now Tell me , exactly what kind of Help do you want ? Your shocks arent long enough ? Buy upper mounts.... Problem solved... Its not rocket science... You want to look good on a ramp ? Then start buying.........

OK, so I would like a more capable trail rig that I can enjoy more. What I should have asked was can I fit a 34 inch tire under a rovertym 3 inch with a 1 inch spacer?........ I have heard that the rovertym 3 inch really actually yields a 3.5-4 inch lift. So I want to know if I can fit that 34 or do I need to stick to a solid 33? As I am doing the lift I will also be upgrading the drivetrain.

Steve will chime in on this.... You can certainly put a "Skinny" 34 on it with that lift as long as it stays that lift.... You will need trailing arms. My advise is to buy the tires that you know you want. JUst get it out of the way and get em. Have them put on the rims you want and mount them on the truck. Then you know exactly what you need to do without question to make them function for you.

Kyle, thanks for the advice, but I want to run an offset wheel. As well the tires I am looking at are the Super Swamper SSRs 285/75/16. These tires measure out to be 33.9in tall and I think its about an 11.50 width. Im not to sure if they will work. What may be my other tire options?
