Im planning a trip to Colorado and trying to upload mapsource maps from traildamage.com. They are in .mps format, but my mapsource program will not open them. Any ideas? Anyone use the maps at traildamage?

No place special.
When you open the file with Mapsource look at the left hand sidebar showing the User Data Tabs, the click on the tab marked Tracks. (If the sidebar isn't there, go to View and select Show User Data Tabs.) Double click the track you want and a Track Properties window will open. On the lower right is a button marked Show On Map, click that. Your track should appear.

Thanks for the help. Im able to open gps exchange files (.gpx). I can open .gps files, but nothings shows, no tracks, routes, waypoints, etc. Im thinking the .gps file must be an older mapsource version that may not be compatible with the newer.

I'm using MapSource v. 6.13.2 and I just noticed 6.13.4 is now available. However, I'm getting an error message when I try to update. Perhaps the servers are too busy. Which trails in Colorado are you trying to open? I picked one at random and opened it with no problems. Perhaps the ones you want are corrupted?

Oh, I just realised I left out a step from my first instructions. When you have the Track Properties window open, you have to highlight all the points in the track and then click Show On Map. When you close the properties window the points should be visible.

It's the file, try a different one and see what happens. I try to open it and got nothing as well. Then I opened it with Notepad and all that was in the file was the header.

You don't need a GPS for Black Bear. Just steer away from the cliff's edge. ;)

Aint that the truth. Last time I was on Black Bear was 20 years ago in a 75 Bronco. Scared the crap out of me. Im hoping to look at the GPS instead of over the edge. This time my wife and daughters are going. This should be real interesting.
