Using D1 lever to enable D2 CDL

I've found a lever and have read a few articles on doing this. Apparently there is some modification required to the Hi/Lo connection and maybe some issues with the seal but overall are there any real drawbacks about doing this. It seems to be near impossible to find an '04 lever and real pricey when you do.

I have a D1 linkage on my D2. You have to heat up and CAREFULLY bend the Hi/lo lever over to reach connection on the transfer case.

Its not an overly complicated job.

I had the DI lever for a few years. I didn't like it at all. Ended up getting a DII lever from drillbit for a good price.

D1 lever as well. Take your time installing, and should look and function like factory. Mine does.

Edit.. See you have a 2001. Sure you have the CDL nipple?

Well I got one for a decent price so now all I have to do is install it. I guess my only question is, does an '01 D2 have a diff lock light? Because I don't see it when I turn the ignition key on, just a blank spot to the left of the TC light.

I did the DI lever as well. Worked fine, all lights worked too. Lately I have 2 problems (order in which they showed up)
1 - HDC doesn't since transfer case is in low range when it obviously is.
2 - When I tried to engage last week it would not go.

I think the culprit for both is I didn't remove the original high low cable and think is damaged the HDC sensor by bouncing around, knocking wires lose (?) and getting into the lock mechanism some how. I hope to be able to dig into the problem over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Any other thoughts?
