Its time for the Uwharrie Safari again. The dates this year are April 11-14. Camping will be at the badin lake campgrounds as always. There are tent sites, as well as room for a few campers. The site does have bathrooms and showers. We will have a BBQ dinner for sale on sat night, as well as event T-shirts.

If you have never been to Uwharrie, the trials range from easy to difficult. With a couple places to really test your rig. We will have guided trail rides for the beginners up to advanced night rides. This is family friendly event, and may have something set up for the kids.

Registration will be coming in the next few weeks, Ill post the link up once its ready.

Did I hear correctly that one of the trails or part of a trail is closed for this year? :banghead:

Not just any trail, rocky mountain loop- the CROC sponsored trail has been closed for the entire 2013 season. In addition to the other two trails that are closed, this may be the beginning of the end.

I quess it's time to start putting big rims and low profiles on my truck since there won't be many trails before long.

I thought the same thing. If there isnt anywhere to go within an hour or two of my house.. Then Its not worth having the truck.

This is the latest from a discussion with the park service: "We are waiting on a few things right now to see how we will go forward. Right now there are about 4 options on the plate. Before we can go forward as a group the USFS has to have their engineer / arch person to come in and see how we can go forward. Found out we put some guard rail up in the wrong place also. It has been talked about going around that area but the money to do that is not there. The best option out there right now is to put up the guard rail, but as of right now we do not have enough, so we can do some here soon maybe if they say we can go forward with that option. The other option is to have a contractor do the work, but again it comes down to money. RIGHT now the closing down permanently is not on the table, but we have to wait on the person from Atlanta say the final say."

How many people usually turnout for this? I've been to Uwharrie many times, but never for this event. May go up really late Friday or early Saturday and stay till mid Sunday.

Come on out! Just make sure to register.. We will have registration stickers for every vehicle that must be displayed at all times during the weekend.. Just want to cut down on any "freeloading"
