I hooked up a vacuum gauge to my motor (4.0) the other day and it indicated around 14 inches of mercury with a slight jitter.

I thought it should have been closer to 20 or so, but I'm in Middle Georgia, fairly close to sea level, so is that where you other Rover owners see it?

My jitter resembles the #3 scenario here:

Seems a bit low, but otherwise typical. Cheap gauges (like the one I used) will inherently add a bit of "flutter" as they're unbuffered and give a more raw reading. How much do you trust your gauge? Here's a link to a video of my 4.6. Sample was taken from the 1/4NPT port on the passenger side of the intake with the plastic fitting that always breaks when you lay on it.

What made you take a vacuum measurement in the first place? Trying to diagnose some issue?
