Various questions re: lug nuts, tire size, rust and rhino lining

Hello to all,

While I have owned a number of rovers over the years, this spring I purchased a 1995 LWB. I have had some work done, as expected, including serpentine belt, shocks (already has OME medium springs) steering damper, some battery wires, etc. Now that things are working great I have a few questions.

1. What is the proper socket size for the lug nuts? Is it the same as the size for my wife's P38?

2. I want to go to a slightly taller tire (remember, OME medium springs all around). However, for snows, I want to maintain a narrow width. I have looked at rangerovers.net, but would like additional advice. I am considering 215/85R16 Nokians. I understand the higher sidewall may affect handling, but as they are "E" load rated tires, will there really be much of a difference? I put a narrower snow time on a 16x7 rim for the P38, and while the dealer advised me that the handling may suffer (cover their butts) I found no problem.

I was then thinking of 245/75R16 for the summers, as they would be wider, but basically the same diameter as the snows. I might need the steering stops adjusted for these. By the way, the PO replaced all of the suspension bushings 2 years ago with another set of rubber bushings.

3. Some water was spilled in the back, so I removed the carpets and padding to dry them out and found a small anount of rust. I have also seen rhino lining used to coat metal in jeeps, etc. If I cover the bed and floor in rhino lining, how much of the rust must be removed before? Will the lining cover it up and stop the rust from spreading. Additionally, it would appear to me if I coat the inside of the truck, it will simply continue to rust from the underside. Correct? Any other suggestions for a coating?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

1-1/16" 6-point socket and 18" breaker bar works great, P38 also the same size. I had to adjust my steering stops slightly when I ran 245/75/16 tires, no problems with clearance. I have used POR15 on rust with good results:

rhino liner is not a rust solution

Have seen a few trucks with some type of rhino lining, rust has found it's way under the lining and had attacked the steel.
The best solution is remove as much rust as possible, then use something like POR to coat the steel. And maybe get rid of the padding that seems to hold any moisture against the floor pans.
I've replaced rusted floor pans in porsches, bmw's, vw's, lc's......
