Hi there:

Have anyone dealt with this company?

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/home.do?vid=011964&yr=2001

I am ready to place an order for some Nitto Terra Grapplers and just want to be cautious. I spoke with the guy on the phone and sound honest. He is giving me a good deal on the tires plus free shipping and no taxes to NY. On the other hand, am I getting the same quality as my tire guy will provide me for more money? He is saying that he orders by hundreds and can give a lower price versus my tire guy has to special order.

Just checking, I appreciate your comments.

Thanks

Figman

I paid $150 per tire +tax+install ($25) for my Nitto Terra grapplers in 18's.

Discount Tire is a HUGE tire outfit. Alot of my family uses them in Michigan.

I've gotten tires from them before. The first time they sent the wrong tires then said the ones I wanted were no longer made. Found to be a lie.
When you buy tires on line don't be fooled by free shipping and no tax. The tires may be cheaperbut you still have to factor in mounting and balancing. I'll bet you don't save anything at all and may even end up paying more.

Discount tire is big out here in the southwest. I have not had any problems with them.

By bro-in-law is one of the VP's at Discount Tire out in AZ. It's a good company, very popular in the western states.

Discount Tire is a good outfit, I've bought several sets from them at their stores out here in AZ for my trucks and cars. They buy in bulk and when you're buying online their overhead is low. But you will have to pay the local shop for mounting, balancing, etc. You also won't feel the love from the local shop when you bring in your discounted tires and ask them to get their hands dirty for you, but that's why you pay them to do the work. One thing to consider is tire warranties. You may be able to get a warranty from Discount Tire online but by the time you pay to have is dismounted, send it back, wait for the replacement, pay to have the replacement mounted, etc. your savings is pretty much a wash.

I've gotten 3 sets of tires from Discount Tire.
I looked online for the ones I want, print out the price (for the store, not online-ship-to-me).
Call the local store, tell them what I want & schedule an appt.
Go, watch them mount the tires to ensure they DON'T use a rattle gun to tighten the lugs.
I found their prices very competitive, appointments were made promptly, and the "inside" guys at the desk were helpful and friendly.

Unsurprisingly, the fucking monkey out in the bays was stupid as fuck.
I had to REMIND the dumbass NOT to use the air gun to tighten the lugs, even though it was written on the work order.
"Why not? We ALWAYS do that."
"That's because you're fucking stupid.
I realize you probably don't know what a torque wrench is, so just tighten them by hand.
Now that you've filled them to 400psi, could you perhaps lower the pressure to what is written on the work order?"

Other than the dumbass who actually touched my truck, a very positive experience.

To be honest, it was only the retard who did the tires on my Rangie; the ones who put tires on a couple jeeps for me seemed to have a clue.
Stupid employees will vary from location to location; your mileage may vary.

They are a good outfit, I've purchased numerous tires from them and can only say good things about them. They have never got it wrong with me.

Their retail outlets in California do business as America's Tire and they are everywhere. I buy all my tires from them, for my car and my wife's. Their prices are terrific, I can preorder online and get them installed at a specific date, no hassles or long waits. Their optional certificates for free replacement are worth every penny, especially if you offroad (not sure if that's offered in states where they don't have any stores, though.)
