My 2 cents, its ugly, looks like a freelander, but who cares. I dont want a New rover anyway!
Toyotas are better vehicles, stronger, tougher and better than Landrovers pretty much since they were born, still I prefer the rovers. Too me better looking, more character and more "unique" but my old FJ62 was TOUGH, 262K, ran like a tops, beefy axles, etc. Still sold it to keep my 92 RRC. To me the RRC is it. Gordo

From a strictly sales point, MB is a taxi in Europe. You can get a very base model. MB does not sell that vehicle here in the States. They do not rely on volume but on profit and exclusivity here in the States. LR has employed the same market philosophy in the States. Unless they change their marketing plan they can not compete with the Wrangler. For that matter the new Toyota, FJ, hasn't either. Is the market in the USA big enough for another Wrangler? LRNA will not let a new Defender into the States that isn't a high line model. All that you have to do is look to history, the four years the Defender was shipped into north America. What was the product content then? They were not the panel vans that are sold in Europe. When the Defender comes to the States again it will be a high content vehicle that will cost a lot more than the Wrangler or a Toyota. Lets just hope that we will be able to import a knock down kit of the classic Defender or......

I say do what you have to do. Just drop the name 'Defender' from it and let the Defender name remain with the 'old school' land rovers.
Wouldnt it be nice to get a basic model without all that electronic gadgetry that will be the first thing to go wonky when you leave pavement.

I am a RR classic man. This new bubble design that ford keeps coming out with will prove to be fruitless. Look at what they did to the mustang in the 70's. Alot of those were just underpowered garbage with shotty workmanship.
remember -
Remember the 70's? ... gas cruch, smaller cars. Well it even hit the Mustang! 4-bangers were installed. Horsepower is way, way down. The body style is reduced significantly to save weight. These cars do not deserve the name "Mustang". The Mustang muscle car is dead ... for now.

and so history repeats itself - was'nt anybody paying attention?
The new "Evoke" has a ford mondeo motor, ford tranny - with #@$%ing "Range Rover" stickers.
Fugly and pricey in my opinion - but then again I don't want a new ford/lr.
Just hoping this new "defender" won't be more of the same -
I'm with Gordo RRC all the way.
