Violent Shaking

On this cold and rainy day in Louisville KY I was on my way to work and my awesome 1997 Disco started doing something crazy when I stepped on the gas. The truck started to shake violently. I limped the truck to work but am worried out the ride home. I have a few idea but could use some good advice. What could cause the violent shaking when I hit the gas peddle? Thanks as always

Looks like either death wobble or one of your driveshafts is about to break free.
Based on the "stepped on gas" comment, I'd look for the second.

I always hear of XJs getting death wobble like crazy. Never seen it in a Rover. My XJ had proper castor correction so I never experienced it either.

Check your panhard bushings too.

I love my truck! I pulled into my driveway and KA-BAM! the drive shaft dropped off the rear diff. It made a huge noise and my wife came running out to investigate. So it looks like a new drive shaft and u joints for me. I have some great pix but the attachment manager tells me I am full but I deleted all of my past attachment.

Indeed. Better go buy a lottery ticket right quick, cause karma or whatever is working in your favor right now. Usually, carnage results when the shaft lets go....

While under there, be sure to check the front ujoints....often when they go they take expensive parts with them.
