no kidding. imagine stopping by your local dealer and having them say, we have five 90's on the floor and we're taking orders on 110's.

Not many Defender pics on the web site. Plenty of 2nd hand ones here, We don't have any V8 ones however only tdi and td5. I think LR oz were aiming them at serious off roaders and farmers neither want a petrol truck here. You can't get petrol in some remote areas of Australia just diesel. By the way ours are not CKD cars but fully imported LR oz just fitt the opitions to make up the Extreame pack I think, the red mica ones with all the polished alloy checker plate options look really tuff I can tell you. You can option them with BFG a/t or m/t but not sure what size I know they are bigger than standard.

we just visited our local LR dealer and looked at the '05 110s manufactured here in Brasil. all with 5 speed TD5 engines and you can choose either silver or green. on occassion a special edition black with leather is available. std. front electric mirrors, A/C, remote lock, vinyl seats, alloy wheels, sunroof, and C/D player.

U$31k. many from which to chose in stock. :D

Freelanders - U$50k as they are imported from GB.

tough decision ;)

as much as I'd like to say otherwise...there are a boat-load of stock 90s still roaming around....either way, think in terms of production totals and you see why there aint a 90 here no more, as maybe 2000 or so of each model year Defender actually hits the trail.

There's no Defender because it would cost too much to produce for the US market. Although we get our new Defender in 2 years  Just forget it.

i read an article in land rover enthusiasts where they interviewed a pr exec for lr north america. he was asked what the purpose of having the 110 ckd at sema last year. the exec said that they had observed all these competitors putting out these off-road capable new suv's like the h2. ford wanted to remind everyone that the defender was the original and was still being produced around the world (except the us). as the ckd version needed assembling they felt it was the ultimate accessory to show at sema.

he acknowledged the amount of interest the 110 ckd stirred up but didn't say whether or not they would bring it back. i think if they could bring the 110 back w/airbags, automatic transmission, and electric windows it would sell and double as a rolling marketing machine. i tried to get my wife to give the ok on one i found w/a $29k asking price. she saw the stick and roll down windows and laughed.

seeing as defenders are so highly desired on this forum, i'm surprised there isn't more talk of getting g500's here. a new defender would probably retail for about $45-50k unless they really pimp it out. 2002 g500's are getting down to that price level.

The Defender as we know it is dead in America. Gather up what noce ones are left or hold out for everybody else's 25 year old one's in 3 years. The new Defender is being designed already and it is nothing like what most Defender enthusiasts want. It's catering to a whole new market.

Maybe I was a little harsh, but definitely not the type of person looking for a true purpose built no frills utilitarian vehicle. Plus no V8 next time or diesel. It looks like we get the V6 the LR3 is getting.
