Two weekends ago my son and I headed into the Cascade Mountains to scout out a trail for an upcoming Perseids Meteor shower club trail run/campout.

Other than breaking my rear diff on a hill climb it was a good trip.

I like your nickname. :)

Yeah, we had a really good time. Love spending time up there. We went again with the NW Overland Society last weekend. We even got a big old Sportsmobile van in there. :)

Nice set up in the back. I know you love the arb tent as we do. I especially like your rear door drop down surface. Did you make that or find it somewhere else?

About the trail, were you actually camped at Gallagher Head Lake ? Roughly where is it?

Thanks, the setup has really made camping a lot easier. I do love the tent. Never slept so good in the woods! I do leave it at home for trail runs through the forest which is why my Mountain Hardware tent is shown in the photos of this trip. My rooftop tent is actually from racktents.com and is made in the same factory using the same materials as the ARB but at a much lower cost. They are both made by Mombosa. ARB had some refinements originally, but most of them have made there way back into the Mombasa design now.

I made the rear door dropdown setup after seeing Marc Olivares D1 setup a couple of years ago.

Yep, we camped right at Gallagher Head Lake. It is near Lake Cle Elum in the Central Washington Cascades.

Thanks Ben. Only true because you sold yours. :)

You get that Rangie on the road yet?

C

Awe...

Yup, I'm still working out little bugs but I'm almost done. It will be pretty much done by the rally.

You going?

I might be going. Still trying to get the stars to align though. I'd be going to pimp my software. If we can get the next version done in time and my work schedule agrees, then I'll go. Right now I'm a 60% yes.

when are the meteor showers? I guess I can google it. . . if you're up to it, come hang in Montana! We'll be passing through From Aug 31-Sept 2nd/3rd.

The Meteor Showers were a couple of weeks ago now. We took 8 trucks, including a Sportsmobile, on a night run in to camp. The trail is easy rated, but getting vans, no matter how well setup, down any NW 4x4 trail is *interesting*. The whole trip went great, except for the constant cloud cover that prevented us from watching the meteors.

We'll try again next year. You should too. :)
