I'm going to be doing a pondless waterfall coming up soon.. anyone here have anything in your yard? I've been doing alot of rock gathering lately, think I'm about ready to start gathering my other supplies (pump, liner, et al) Just thought I'd ask here to see if any of you all have built something in your yard.. Later.. RobSub

Might I suggest a pair of full size plastic deer to compliment the waterfall.

So let me get this right. The water just comes down a wall of rocks and then back behind it and back over the rock face. Is this free standing or does it back up to an existing wall or building?

If you count wet and smelly septic fields Garrett has a huge "water feature"!

I built a huge koi pond back at my old house in Tampa. I really miss it. It was expensive, I lost thousands of dollars of fish due to racoons and blue herons, but I wouldn't trade a minute of it.

If you decide to go with a pond at the bottom of the waterfall give me a shout and I'll give some pointers. I can build a pond and a deck like no one's business! My old nickname, and still is for a small group of friends in Florida, "Jen the Deckbuilder." rofl

all this koi pond talk reminds me of keg party i threw a few years back. One of my friends was overly drunk and pissed in the neighbors koi pond.
There were three fish floating atop the water the next day. He swears to this day he only pissed in it.

I have a three-stream waterfall (pondless at the bottom) that is a real joy, and a beautiful addition to my backyard landscape. About 60' wide, meandering curving streams, lots of whitewater, and lots of flowering water plants along the banks and reeds and paparyus in the upper wetlands. A major centerpiece of my back yard landscaping. Easy to maintain, beautiful to see, and a pleasant sound to put you to sleep at night. Don't forget to add lots of lighting of the spillways, plants, trees, etc. Makes for a fantastic sight! Enjoy!

we have a koi pond that was here when we bought the house. ive sunk 200 bucks in koi fish this week alone from a great farm in louisa that has thousands of them. my 2 yr old loves it, feeds them and yells insults to the ones he doesnt like. just like his old man...i did have to rebuild the upper holding cell and find and fix a few leaks. worth the effort though.

edit: and they look cool at night!

At my house, the back yard is level from the house, then goes down a bank.
The only place I could put something like that would be "down over the hill"; which means I'd never see it.

Personally, I'd have it follow the landscape, I don't like the freestanding things; some of the McMansions near here have those - not my thing.

I had a water feature after the last big rain, but the water level finally went down. Guess I should put a drain in there before I put the synthetic grass down.

Did you do the work yourself? I won't quite be able to do 60' wide though.. wouldn't look right in my yard. I want to do pondless simply for the fact of easy to maintain.

I have the Atlantic Ocean just outside the side of my shop. The shop has a great view but unfortunately blocks the view from the house. I don't think I could get any Koi to survive out there.

This is pretty much what I'll be going for just to give you an idea.. and it will follow the contour of the yard.. not a big freestanding out of place type thing.

More or less like this one though
