I have a heat exchanger onboard shower setup, and I'm kicking around the idea of installing a water tank underneath. I havent taken the time to look around underneath the new D2, but I'm sure I can find room for a 10 gallon poly tank. I plan to plumb the lines from the 12v pump to the tank.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Can't decide how to mount the tank. Guess I need more research...

if you guys are really looking to do this I have access to hundreds of different sizes of water tanks and can even stuff them with micro filtration or link them to a onboard RO system.

I have kinda thought that it is over kill for a camper the size of a disco.

Jimjet made one out of a pelican case that he carries on his roof rack.

As of yesterday i upgraded. The pelican case with bladder lasted 3 years and started leaking.
I got a 21 gal clear tank 38 long by 8 high by 18 wide from ebay.39.00 bucks.
i mounted the washdown pump on the side strapped it to the roof rack and plumbed
it to my shower and spigot.
The water gets toasty hot
i mainly use it to wash fishing gear and buckets or showering if
i extend my beach stay.

P.S.
My roof rack use to belong to a Celebrity.
Steve Young.
If he passes away do you think it will be worth more
being that it had Celeb Status.??

meh, that's where I started. And honestly, a jerry can would work just fine. I just like the idea of having a tank mounted out of sight, and the ability to flip a switch and have water. Removing the jerry can, placing it on the ground, dropping in the intake hose, and then flipping a switch isn't hell to go through. Again, it's just an option I'm looking into.

That being said, I'm looking for a 10(ish) gallon tank that is rounded like an air tank. I think it will be easier to mount, and fit underneath.

When I was researching on LPG system, what they do to a disco is fitting 2x 30L round cylinder tank underneath on each side, just like the pic I post earlier.
Fitting underneath should be doable but material wise, it need to withstand heat, stone chips from highway. Plus u go wheeling, right?

Sorry I thought it was Steve Young the football player, not the one that everyone makes fun of.

Did you get your problems cleared up?

So you must have the special tactical roof rack that SY designed in conjunction with Safety Devices and using alien technology from Area 51. Cool!

What's in the shit pipe Jim?

I am interested in learning how to build the heat exchanger hot water shower setup for my 03 disco. Can anyone point me in the right direction? It would be appreciated. Thank you.

I've been trialing this for three months and so far it's worked out great. I've been using these Swiss Military water bladders for years with great success. They are rated at five liters but I fill them to almost 2 gallons with no problem. After receiving my Trasharoo, I got the idea to hang one of the bladders on my spare underneath it. I ran two motorcycle tie downs thru the spare mount and around the tire. I then hooked them to the bladder ropes fist at the bottom and then the top.

The Trasharoo fit right Over the top of it.

Voilla! Gravity fed water source that doesn't leak, is handy, and has no Ill effects from freezing. The bladders can be purchased from the sportsmansguide.com. They were two for $22.00 when I bought mine. The bladders are a cord reinforced rubber. I disinfect them with a tbsp of chlorine bleach bleach 3 times and this removes any "rubber" taste. I am going to pick up a couple of black tie downs just for asthetic purposes. :D

PS. If you hang these in the sun the water gets very hot!

How'd you install the heat exchanger?

A year or two ago, I swapped out the original radiator for a new one. The one specifically made for the 5 speed was $125 more than one for a auto, and it had one (or two) fewer rows of tubes. The auto box has worked just fine, but it has an extra cooling reservoir (for the slush box fluid) the that I intended to make great use of. Bought a small 12 volt pump which was to be mounted under the bonnet so a hose could be dropped into a bucket of water to provide hot water at the campsite. Then I considered how aluminium rads like to be fed only distilled water...so project was never completed.
